Show Notes for Season 1, Episode 14: I'm a Plant Person Now

Alethea talks about black thumbs, green thumbs, and what she's learned about plants during the pandemic.

Watch it on Disney+! Not an ad.

For more Wunmi Mosaku, I highly recommend Lovecraft Country (not for children, but for everyone else)

For more Gugu Mbatha-Raw, I loved her in Black Mirror's "San Junipero"

I haven't watched Star Trek: Lower Decks yet, but apparently Eugene Cordero is a voice on that so it's bumped up my watchlist.

Also, in case you need a laugh while you're cleaning (and sometimes some crying) please check out The Good Place and Superstore.

Buy Nothing - They are working on an app, but until that rolls out, you have to look for your own local group. I found mine on Facebook.

Tita Rosie's Kitchen Mysteries

Mia P. Manansala (sign up for her newsletter)

Do you have a black thumb?

Hilton Carter convinced me that I didn't. :) Find him on Instagram @hiltoncarter

And if you are really struggling he also has a line of fake plants at Target.

Pet-Safe Plant Lists

Plant Shops

Greenwood - I don't think they ship plants any more, but they have really cute planters, too. Also they are great for general plant knowledge -- I've learned a lot from them!

Jjengas Plants - Always check Jeong-A's recent posts and stories on Instagram for any coupons or local pop-ups! She sells a lot of rare plants too.

Inspiring Accounts

HapaGardener is my friend ๐Ÿ’— I love her garden and all her animal friends

Anti-Blackness and Racism in Filipino Culture

These are resources I had to share with my own mother who still has colonizer-influenced views on racism, of the all-lives-matter, stop-seeing-color variety.

These lists are by no means comprehensive, but I will continue to work on them and make them available.

You can send me an audio message at and I might play it and answer it on a future episode.

I'm not yet scheduling guest appearances from people I don't know personally. If you are someone I know from pre-podcast, please reach out. If you are someone I don't know... reach out anyway! I'd be happy to hear from you. Email
