An episode about boxes, but also some personal thoughts about the world.
Happy Earth Day!
I forgot to mention this on the episode, but yes, it's the 51st Earth Day.
Thanks, Jeric

Places with Boxes I Love
Those boxes that are cute and green on the inside come from Thrive Market (but you have to be a member).
Alleyoop has the cheeriest red boxes.
Causebox -- I admit, I've been leaning on this subscription box this past year since I don't want go shopping at the mall (or even at Target or somewhere I'd normally go every month). It's my retail therapy and I don't regret it. If you shop and sign up from my referral link https://www.talkable.com/x/MifbDn, you get $10 off your first box (new customers only) and I get $15 credit! I've accidentally gotten some very useful items from them, and I love supporting ethically made, sustainable, environmentally conscious companies and products. You can read more about them here.
If you actually need to buy boxes or packaging for your business, I really like EcoEnclose. You can find out more about them here.
Shadow and Bone
I'll share the box on my Instagram, but you really should check out the books and the new Netflix series dropping on April 23, 2021!
More Ideas for How to Recycle Cardboard Boxes
- Public Goods has a pretty good article on recycling boxes properly
- Home Depot has a tutorial on how to make a playhouse
- Cuteness has a DIY cat castle (and I'm sure there are lots of tutorials for other cat architecture out there)
- A Real Housewife of NYC shows you how to make super simple drawer dividers
- Everyday Recycler asks and answers whether or not you can recycle egg cartons (yes and no)
I have some of my own box-hack tutorials planned, however I haven't had the time to write them up or make videos yet, and it was more important to me to get a new episode out before I ended up in the rewrite/re-record loop again. So as we say in Tagalog, abangan (wait for it).

Anti-Blackness and Racism in Filipino Culture
These are resources I had to share with my own mother who still has colonizer-influenced views on racism, of the all-lives-matter, stop-seeing-color variety.
- OneDwnMedia: Unlearning Anti-Blackness in Filipino Culture - this is excellent and brief IMHO. Seriously, it's a great channel of info -- check them out here.
- LAist: How a 'Secret Asian Man' Embraced Anti-Racism
- FYLPro: It's time to talk to your parents, titos and titas about internalized racism
- EsquireMagPh: Racism in the Philippines: Does It Exist?
- Bonus: On Being Asked to Change "Black Lives Matter" to "All Lives Matter" because I felt my mother would be more likely to listen to a spiritual person and he explains it very well. Certainly better than I could on Facebook at 6 am when I read her comments and my brain exploded.
These lists are by no means comprehensive, but I will continue to work on them and make them available.

Clean up, then take an after photo. You can take video too, and share multiples of each, since Instagram allows up to 10 photos or videos in a multi-media post.
You can tell us whatever you want in the captions, but make sure you put the hashtag #cleanyourroompodcastchallenge in there somewhere! We might choose to share/repost some posts and stories as well if your profile is public.
